The Fruita Monument girls tennis team continued its strong start to the season, defeating Central in straight sets in all seven matches. Senior Tess Dilzell had her second 6-0,6-0 victory in as many tries to lead the way for the Wildcats.

Erica Skillicorn and Alyssa Morse had the other singles wins, while the pairs of Sarah O’Day/Abby Deeths (1), Tessa Reimer/Breckyn Dunn (2), Jaidynn Maynard/Lauren Vance (3), and Sarah Penick/Sydni McGowan (4) all continued their undefeated seasons in dominating fashion.

“It’s as good a start as I could ask for,” said Coach Clint Davis. “We still have a lot to work on to get where we need to go by the end of the season. I can’t wait to get back to practice tomorrow.”

He also pointed out the effort and success of the JV team, who also swept their matches. “Coach Davis and Coach Willms are so good at bringing out the best of us. I don’t know what what we would do without them,” concluded sophomore Abby Hawkins.
