Multiple Teams · Major Mortgage Wildcat Classic Announced


Once again Major Mortgage will be the title sponsor of the Major Mortgage Wildcat Classic.  This event will involve games featuring all four teams from District 51, Front Range contenders Rangeview and Vista Peak, perennial Utah power Carbon County from Price and defending Utah 5A State Champion American Fork.

The event will feature 24 games at the varsity and jv level over three days Dec. 7-9 at Fruita Monument High School.  FMHS Head Coach Michael Wells said “We are grateful to Major Mortgage for their support of this great event and their willingness to give to our community.”

Multiple Teams · GBB Camp/Tryout Information


FMHS Girls Basketball will be conducting Pre-Season Camp 11/6-11/9 from 5:30-7:30pm in the Main Gym at the High School. Cost is $50 and check made out to FMHS GBB can be received the day of camp.

Tryouts for the Girls Team will be 11/10 from 5-6pm in Classroom 806, followed by Court time from 6-8pm.  They will continue Saturday 9-10am in the same classroom and be followed by on court session at 10-noon and 2-3:30pm.  In order to be eligible to tryout, you must be cleared by the athletic office.  This involved registering online through Family ID, providing a physical, and paying the $140 athletic participation fee.  You will not be allowed to tryout under any circumstances until you are cleared by the athletics office.

Players and Parents,

Here are some of the important upcoming dates for this year’s Boys Basketball season:

  • This year’s Basketball season will kick off with a mini-camp on November 6-8 3:15-5:15. ***Time and location are subject to change due to Girls Volleyball
    • This is highly recommended for any player wanting to try out. We will cover many of the drills, as well as the offensive and defensive schemes that will be used to evaluate the players during try-outs.
  • Parent Meeting:
    • November 8th, 6 pm FMHS Auditorium
  • Freshman Tryouts:
    • Friday, November 10th, 4-6 pm FMHS North Gym
    • Saturday, November 11th, 8-10 am FMHS North Gym
    • Monday, November 13th, 3:15-5:15 pm FMHS North Gym
      • Team selections will be made after Monday’s tryout
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior Tryouts:

Multiple Teams · Gall Commits to Chadron State


Frutia Monument Girls Basketball Senior center Angelique Gall pledged her commitment to continue her college basketball career at Chadron State College in Chadron, NE.  The two-time first team all SWL selection, chose Chadron over a host of other Division II, NAIA and Junior College schools.

Gall has been a fixture on the inside for the cats since her Freshman season, and figures to be one of the top players in the league for the upcoming season.  Girls Basketball tryouts start November 10, with the Fruita opening the season in the ThuderRidge/Castle View tournament on Nov. 30 vs. perennial 4A power Valor Christian.
